How to Repair a Stuck Latch?

In our daily life, we occasionally have the situation that the latch bolt lock cannot be opened. Maybe the latch is stuck, or the key will not come out, etc. First do DIY by oneself. If it can not be repaired, it is necessary to find a professional locksmith.

 

 

1. Use a Barrettes

First of all, find a barrettes, which most girls have. Go to the jewelry store or supermarket to buy one if there is no barrettes, also very cheap. Iron wire or steel wire similar to the barrettes can also be used.

 

Insert the barrettes into the lock tongue and stir it up and down, left and right. When the latch is adjusted to the hole position, take out the barrettes again. If it does not succeed at one time, do it several times until it is done. Take note not to be too strong, just moderate.

 

 

2. Add Some Lubricating Oil

If the bullet core door lock or the gate door bolt can not spring out, put some lubricating oil on the lock tongue or lock head. Be careful not to get it into the lock cylinder. Just apply some pencil powder for the lock cylinder.

 

 

3. Remove the Lock

How to do if the lock tongue of wooden door does not spring out or the key of burglar proof door cannot be pulled out ? No matter what kind of gate door bolt lock, first remove the baffle at the lock tongue, then loosen or rotate the disc on the lock handle and pull it to the back. Next,  insert it into the small hole of the handle to firmly resist with a small tweezers or other small tools so that the handle part can be pulled out and the disc can also be taken away, the same way on both sides. Finally, the lock core and lock tongue are connected together. If the lock tongue does bot be taken off, the lock core will not come out. The lock tongue is hung on the lock core. If the lock core is turned, it will pull the lock tongue.

 

 

4. Pull with a Vise or Forceps  

How to do if the key of black bolt lock can not be pulled out? A long throw gate lock wickes refers to a round core that rotates with the key together. Just press the round core with fingernail and the key can be pulled out by turning it to the place where the key is inserted. If it is a flat key, turn the key to the original position that can be pulled out, and then take a forceful pull out with a vise. Or find a pair of tweezers, because this tool is the easiest to access the key part of the magnetic bolt lock. Patiently and forcefully grip the key, and then drag it out little by little.

 

 

5. The Lock Tongue of the Entrance Guard Lock Does Not Come Out and the Door Can Not Be Closed

(1) Check whether the power supply of the electric lock is normal, generally 12V DC, plus or minus 0.5V.

 

(2) If the electric lock is a mortise bolt lock, it may be that the magnetic steel under the electric plug lock falls off, causing the door state detection to think that the door is open, so the lock tongue will not extend out.

 

(3) For specific reasons, it is better to find the person who installed the access control lock to carry out on-site maintenance and repair.

 

Finally, if bedroom door bolt can not be repaired, or if it is afraid that problems will appear again after its removal, replace it with a new lock cylinder. Or ask a professional locksmith to check and replace drop bolt lock.
